People who run about chirping that Jesus is returning soon are doing more out of their own self centeredness than anything else. They feel that they themselves are so important that Jesus has to return in their lifetimes.

Jesus had said that no one knows the day nor hour of his return however if you read the whole chapter where he mentions that Matthew 24 you will see that he gave signs that will show that his return is near. |

Yes there are signs that we are in the end times. The Bible tells us the signs but that we could never know the EXACT day or hour of the rapture.
Here are some end time signs:

starvation

lots of devastating earthquakes tsunamis tornadoes
many religions/false prophets and teachers |

Israel became a nation again that is one of the main things that had to occur.
There are an increasing amount of wars and rumors of wars.
There are an increasing amount of natural disasters both in frequency and severity.
People are saying evil things are good and good things are evil.
A revival of the Roman empire that will have a particular number of nations in it some people think thats the EU or what will be the EU at the time.
And some other events or trends which were mentioned in scripture.
No one knows the day or hour but we are told to be watching and ready. However there have been times where people were certain the Lord was returning and he didnt. And some people Jehovahs Witnesses say that he already returned but that is not true because scripture says when he does every eye will see his coming.
So watch for his coming but continue to do the work on earth that you are called and gifted to do. |

The biggest sign is that Israel has become a nation again. After being scattered throughout the world for almost 1900 years the Jews returned to their homeland and became a nation again in 1948. This was predicted in many Old Testament prophecies but also Jesus made it clear the Jews would be in their homeland when He returns. In 1967 the Jews regained the old city of Jerusalem. They had control of the surrounding areas but gained the ancient part of the city in 1967.
Jesus said this:
When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains let those in the city get out and let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
Luke 21:2024
Jerusalem was surrounded by armies and destroyed in 70 AD with thousand of Jews crucified and many sold into slavery. The times of the Gentiles nonJews refers to the time in which the surrounding nations exercise dominion over Israel and the Jewish people. THe fact the Jews have returned to their homeland and Jerusalem is in control of the Jews indicates the times of the Gentiles are running out and the Kingdom of Messiah is soon to come but before that very terrible times will occur. |

Luke 21:711.......7Then they questioned him saying: Teacher when will these things actually be and what will be the sign when these things are destined to occur? 8He said: Look out that YOU are not misled for many will come on the basis of my name saying I am he and The due time has approached. Do not go after them. 9Furthermore when YOU hear of wars and disorders do not be terrified. For these things must occur first but the end does not occur immediately.
10Then he went on to say to them: Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom 11and there will be great earthquakes and in one place after another pestilences and food shortages and there will be fearful sights and from heaven great signs.
