Bible Question about the Seraphs? ?

Details : ISAIAH 6:1 2 Above it stood seraphim each one had six wings: with two he covered his face with two he covered his feet and with two he flew. What the heck does this mean? Are the Seraphim so small that their entire bodies cover his face and feet ? But still he could fly on them? Or is it saying that the seraphim have two wings covering their faces their feet and then two wings on their back? : i really want to paint this and it just keeps getting more difficult.

Bible Question about the Seraphs? ?

its an angel that has six wings three pairs. two are wrapped around his face. two go down and wrap around his feet. and two are used for flying.
Well we are not supposed to know everything as we read it in the Bible. We as human beings do not have the mental capacity to imagine these kind of things. Angels are said to be so beautiful we cannot imagine what they look like exactly. But it is just as you read it. And as a matter of fact Seraphs or Seraphims sp? are very bright and glowing and while no one knows if they are large or smallI think they are adult sized figures with the 6 wings. Your description does make sense tho. If we go along with scripture.
Would have to have really big wings to overcome bone density.
It would appear that they covered their own self compare Ezekiel 1:11 where it talks about the four winged living creatures who covered their own selves also compare Revelation 4:8 where it talks of the 6 winged living creatures. Edit: Their size? But check Rev.10:12
What? Cannot you read? The scripture says nothing about size of the seraphs. They had 6 wings two covering their faces two covering the feet and two used to fly. Unlike birds they dont need all their wings to fly. Sure it sounds weird but are you questioning GODS Word? How dare you P.S. If you want to paint Ill be your nude model
SERAPHS Spirit creatures stationed about Jehovahs throne in the heavens. Isa 6:26 The Hebrew word seraphim is a plural noun derived from the verb saraph meaning burn. Le 4:12 Thus the Hebrew term seraphim literally means burning ones. Elsewhere the noun occurs in singular Heb. saraph or plural and refers to earthly creatures. In this usage the meaning is variously poisonous fiery inflammationcausing and fiery snake.Nu 21:68 ftns. The prophet Isaiah describes his vision for us saying: In the year that King Uzziah died I however got to see Jehovah sitting on a throne lofty and lifted up and his skirts were filling the temple. Seraphs were standing above him. Each one had six wings. With two he kept his face covered and with two he kept his feet covered and with two he would fly about. And this one called to that one and said: Holy holy holy is Jehovah of armies. The fullness of all the earth is his glory. ... And I proceeded to say: Woe to me For I am as good as brought to silence because a man unclean in lips I am and in among a people unclean in lips I am dwelling for my eyes have seen the King Jehovah of armies himself At that one of the seraphs flew to me and in his hand there was a glowing coal that he had taken with tongs off the altar. And he proceeded to touch my mouth and to say: Look This has touched your lips and your error has departed and your sin itself is atoned for.Isa 6:17. No description is given of the Divine Person. However the skirts of his majestic garment are said to have filled the temple leaving no place for anyone to stand. His throne did not rest upon the ground but besides being lofty was lifted up. The seraphs standing may mean hovering by means of one of their sets of wings just as the cloud was standing or hovering by the entrance of Jehovahs tent in the wilderness. De 31:15 Professor Franz Delitzsch comments on the position of the seraphs: The seraphim would not indeed tower above the head of Him that sat upon the throne but they hovered above the robe belonging to Him with which the hall was filled. Commentary on the Old Testament 1973 Vol. VII Part 1 p. 191 The Latin Vulgate instead of saying seraphs were standing above him says they were standing above it.Isa 6:12. Of High Rank. These mighty heavenly creatures are angels evidently of very high position in Gods arrangement since they are shown in attendance at Gods throne. The cherubs seen in Ezekiels vision corresponded to runners that accompanied the celestial chariot of God. Eze 10:913 This idea of positions of rank or authority in the heavens is in harmony with Colossians 1:16 which speaks of things in the heavens and upon the earth the things visible and the things invisible no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. Their Function and Duty. The number of seraphs is not mentioned but they were calling to one another evidently meaning that some were on each side of the throne and were declaring Jehovahs holiness and glory in antiphonal song one or one group repeating after the other or responding to the other with a part of the declaration: Holy holy holy is Jehovah of armies. The fullness of all the earth is his glory. Compare the reading of the Law and the peoples answering at De 27:1126. With humility and modesty in the presence of the Supreme One they covered their faces with one of their three sets of wings and being in a holy location they covered their feet with another set in due respect for the heavenly King.Isa 6:23. The cry of the seraphs concerning Gods holiness shows that they have to do with seeing that his holiness is declared and that his glory is acknowledged in all parts of the universe including the earth. One of the seraphs touched Isaiahs lips to cleanse away his sin and his error by means of a glowing coal from off the altar. This may indicate that their work is in some way associated with cleansing away sin from among Gods people such cleansing being based on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Gods altar.Isa 6:3 67. Their Visionary Form. The description of the seraphs as having feet wings and so forth must be understood to be symbolic their likeness to the form of earthly creatures being only representative of abilities they have or of functions they perform just as God often speaks symbolically of himself as having eyes ears and other human features. Showing that no man knows the form of God the apostle John says: Beloved ones now we are children of God but as yet it has not been made manifest what we shall be. We do know that whenever he is made manifest we shall be like him because we shall see him just as he is.1Jo 3:2.
Yes they have six wings. One pair covers their face one pair covers their back the last pair covers their feet. I would like to add that cover his feet is a Hebrew euphemism for cover his private parts. Heres a halfway decent image http://www.blingo.com/image?h634imageURIhttp3A2F2Fsirver.neutral.cz2FEE2Fobrazky2Fclanky2Fseraph.jpgisThumbFullSizepageURIhttp3A2F2Fsirver.neutral.cz2FEE2Fclanky.php3Fid3D114researchURI2Fimages3Fn3D1626p3D1326q3Dseraphsize110kth124thumbURIhttp3A2F2Fmedia5.picsearch.com2Fis3FCAmyJ7pWESv93HGiDlZHlBVLZ2byIV4Ads30azxVYwtw128w650 But now that you know what covered his feet means Ill bet that you can draw a much better representation. Some interesting classic artistic renditions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SeraphimPetitesHeuresdeJeandeBerry.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GiottoLegendofStFrancis19StigmatizationofStFrancis.jpg The body form of the seraphs is not mentioned in The Bible but it is implied that it is serpentine source: HarperColllins Bible Dictionary Isa 14:29 30:6. Seraph seems to have the meaning fiery ones source: HarperColllins Bible Dictionary. Avoid the Wikipedia article which confuses Seraphim and Cherubim. SO Id guess that the best Bibleconsistent representation would be of a fiery halfsnake halfhuman or alternately a sort of dragon shape. Possibly the wings are made of flames as in the St Francis painting. Jim http://www.biblereviews.com
SERAPH is the singular SERAPHIM is the plural. This is the picture I use in my Bible lessons when I come to the passage on Seraphim. http://semantron.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/seraphimbychicken32678.jpg You can go to www.google.com and type in SERPAHIM to find more pictures to help.
